This is a very hard to find Monitor / Waterfall type steamer trunk with the original interior tray. The trunk has had most of the metal removed to show the beautiful wood body. This is a rare and fantastic trunk!

This trunk is especially unique as most of the original metal covering has been removed to expose the wonderful wood. Wood of this age is hard to describe as it is over 100 years old. You have to see it to really appreciate the depth of color in it, but I think the pictures capture quite a bit of it. You might never see another one of these, as the work to make it look like this requires so much labor and time. First there are hundreds, yes, HUNDREDS of nails that have to be removed to get the old metal, slats, attachments, drawbolts, and additional hardware off. What you have left is a wood box and lid. Then, you refinish the components; replace metal as desired, and all the slats, attachments, drawbolts, and additional hardware back to the trunk. Then we added touches of gold paint and gold antique accents. The exposed wood, gold antique tones, and rare shape and look  make this an Outstanding Trunk. The lock mechanism is original but unfortunately we do not have the key. The trunk has been refinished and has been stained in a rich color and “Mahogany” on the slats . The trunk interior has been stained to match the excterior body and treated with high quality orange Oil Beeswax to give it a beauty of color. We have replaced the leather handles with new reproduction handles. This trunk now is ready to take on another 100 years and be a wonderful addition to your unique antiques.
