Here is a Large Beautiful Hard Wood American Slightly Curved Top Trunk from the late 19th Century. The wonderful use of wood on this trunk and ornate hardware demonstrates the superb construction by the master craftsmen of the time. The interior has been stripped to eliminate any musty odor, then cleaned inside and out, sanded, and finished with multiple coats of tungoil. Black paint was used on the outside metal trim, and all latches, and corner trim were hand-painted in gold accents to highlight the wonderful design on this hardware. It comes with a solid lock, but we do not have a key. This trunk is in very good condition except for some normal wear you would expect from a trunk of this time period. The top and front of the trunk sport reproduction leather stay tabs which the original strapping would have run through which we thought gave this trunk a nice detail and leather straps (2) can be added by us for an additional cost of $60.00 if desired. (YOU MUST CALL US PREVIOUS TO PURCHASING THE TRUNK TO MAKE THESE ARRANGEMENTS) They can also be ordered separately to be added later by the buyer if desired. (Please see the photo below to see the straps)  The color is rich. The hardware is original. This chest is very solid and well built and should hold up for another 100 years to continue its Legacy. This would make a Great table, Coffee table or accent piece for the foot of a bed. The box measures 37 inches long , 22 inches wide, and 25 inches tall.
